Discussion Board 7 – Uniform & Normal Distributions
1. The wait time in a Dr’s office is uniformly distributed from 14 minutes to 34 minutes. Using this information about a uniform distribution answer the following questions: (No Rounding)© Chris O’Byrne 2024
A. What is the probability that your wait time will be between 22 and 31 minutes?
B. What is the probability that your wait time will be at least 20 minutes?
C. What is your expected wait time in the Dr’s office?
2. The average monthly car expense for an Uber/Lyft driver is $627 with a standard deviation of $143. These monthly car expenses are normally distributed. Use this information to answer the following questions: (*Must use values from z-table (back of CH6 notes) or you will not receive credit) © Chris O’Byrne 2024
A. What is the percentage of monthly car expense that will be less than $525?
B. What is the percentage of monthly car expense that will be at least $400?
C. What is the percentage of monthly car expense that will be between $750 and $1,000?
D. Where do the top 11% (longest/Highest) of monthly car expenses begin? (no rounding answer) ***No probabilities generated from a calculator will be permitted/accepted for the Normal Distribution (will not receive credit), only probabilities and values from your Z-tables (CH6) notes will be allowed. ***
When doing and showing your work for the PDF – it should be handwritten as if you are figuring out the problem on the exam – it doesn’t need to be typed up – and I prefer that you DON’T type it out and that you hand write it.
This Discussion Board is Due Wednesday, July 17th by 11PM.
When you answer the question put the answers in this order and label like this:
1A. 1B. 1C.
2A. 2B. 2C.
