You will write and submit a review of the article, focusing on these five key areas:
I. The Hypothesis of the Paper
Describe the main idea or question the authors are trying to answer. Explain if the hypothesis is clear and if it makes sense based on what is already known in the field.
II. The Methods Used
Explain what techniques the authors used to test their hypothesis and why they chose those methods. Think about other techniques they could have used and whether their choice was the best one.
III. The Results that Support/Refute the Hypothesis
Look at the results and discuss whether they support or go against the hypothesis you described. Be sure to connect the results directly to the hypothesis and analyze how convincing they are.
IV. The Impact/Limitations
Talk about how important the research is. Also, point out any weaknesses or things the authors could have done better. Consider if the research has any effect on your life or your community.
V. Future Work
Suggest new experiments or ideas for future research that could improve or build on the current study. Propose something creative that could address any problems or gaps in the study.
Important Tips:While you will need to summarize, most of your work should focus on analysis (thinking about what works and what could be improved).
In the Methods section, don’t just list what the authors did—explain whythey chose those methods and if they could have done it better.
For the Results, make sure to connect your critique to the hypothesis. Don’t just copy their findings—analyze and discuss them.
Be critical about any limitations and think about how the research matters in real life.
Come up with new ideas for future research.
Your review should be no more than 2 pages long (11pt font, single-spaced, 1-inch margins).
