You will be responsible for writing an essay that connects the history of mathematics to the history of human culture and society. In this essay, you will draw upon multiple scholarly sources (from the course materials, or elsewhere) to support your writing. Your goal will be to synthesize what you have learned from the course and demonstrate your understanding of the role of mathematics in human history. You may choose to focus on a particular time or broadly across history. There is flexibility in your focus, and I am open to discussions around your ideas. While there is no hard page limit, about 5-10 pages double spaced is a rough guideline.
