RESEARCH PAPER: ASSESSING LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND
ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
OVERVIEW
So far, we have explored many facets of leadership as a process, including supporting leader and
follower effectiveness, the role of competencies, and, finally, measuring leadership effectiveness.
Our final week builds on these topics in assessing how leadership development can enhance
organizational performance in support of overarching strategic objectives. The goal for every
leader should mirror the biblical mandate to make disciples (discipline learners). Strategic
leaders should invest their knowledge and experience in developing other leaders as part of the
strategic development of an organization. The focus of this assignment is to apply this goal in the
context of how it can support and enhance organizational performance.
INSTRUCTIONS
Write a 4-5 page paper (plus title and reference pages) assessing the value in developing leaders to
enhance organizational performance. Include content relating to resolving conflict and problem solving.
You can take this topical content in whatever direction is most relevant to your research interests. For
example, if your research interest is the role of HR leaders in minimizing employee turnover, you can
search for articles more specific to the leadership role of HRM and develop your paper within that
context. In all, your paper should demonstrate a strong understanding of this week’s reading material
and be relevant to the learning content covered in this module.
Include the following:
1. Assess the value in developing leaders to support organizational performance
2. Describe the benefit of resolving conflicts and specific approaches
3. Analyze the role of problem solving in leadership development in the context of
organizational performance
4. Biblical perspective reflecting a Christian worldview for developing leaders.
Include clarity of content, structure, and formatting:
1. Clear presentation of content
2. Organization of content/headings
3. Grammar
4. Spelling
5. Current APA formatting
6. Minimum of 5 scholarly, peer-reviewed references
7. All references are cited in body of text at least once
8. No abstracts or tables of contents are required
