Overview and Rationale
In order to demonstrate proficiency with the content in this course we will complete a number of different assignments to validate your learning – and allow you to implement relevant practices a real-world setting. For this semester, you will be working as a team of project management practitioners to create a number of Project Initiation and Project Close deliverables for our semester project. For this week, your team will create your team charter – what are your guidelines for engagement over the course of the semester. Consider/share what each of you wants to take away from this course/ project. What are your rules for engagement? What are the guidelines to be followed when folks agree to disagree – or, someone else is not following the agreed upon rules. Ethics in PM work (and in this course) is critical – how will you as a team take responsibility for this? Most specifically, discuss the role of the PM and your expectations of him/her as we work through our project.

Essential Components
This assignment provides the team the opportunity to set ground rules for how it will most effectively work together to complete team assignments this semester (to be assigned throughout the semester) through the creation of the team charter.
Before creating the charter – as a team, what are the challenges in working as a team, specific to your team. What stage of development is your team currently in? This is to be submitted as a separate paragraph to the team charter.
Create team charter for project. Be sure to note the source of your template if used. As you work to create it, consider what agreements and processes can be included to address the challenges noted in #1.
For each group module, identify who the project manager will be. Each of you should take on the role before anyone does it a second time – as well, be sure that the distribution is as equal as it can be.
Return to the paragraph assigned in #1. Add an additional summary on how the team charter is set up to help address the challenges as well as note the challenges outstanding. What stage of development does the team charter drive the team to? What will be catalysts to move the team forward in its stages of development?
As a reminder, here is an overview of the team work from Module 2.
The format for this assignment should be a word document. Cite any sources using APA format. The writing style should be concise and straightforward. Please use a 12 point font. It will be necessary to read through the overview of what the semester project is about before attending this meeting and creating your team charter – the team charter should reflect how you will work together to build the project initiation and project close deliverables for this project.
