You will be designing and creating a creativity map of your life. Think of all of the things a map has: pathways, landmarks, a key, routes, special places along the way, the list goes on. Maps can tell us where we are going or hope to go and they can tell us where we have been. This map should start at your childhood, move to the present, and then to the future.
Your map should reflect your path thus far – has it been a bumpy road, has it been smooth sailing, have you gone on any detours, etc… It should also reflect what you think the future will look like: where are you headed, what will it be like, how will you get there, what stops will be along the way, etc…
Above all remember that this class is about the nature of creativity, Along the way you should have examples of the different parts that creativity has played in your life as well as how you hope to use creativity in the future. You can use symbols, images, words, pictures, whatever makes sense to you to tell your story
Your map must be done on a large piece of poster board (approximately 24 x 36 inches). You can use whatever other materials you wish. It can be flat or 3-D. It can use photographs, magazine and newspaper collage, drawings, found objects, etc…
You should submit one photograph of your entire project and two detailed photographs of areas on your map that are particularly important or interesting to you.
You should also turn in an artist statement as a written .pdf. Your artist statement should contain the following:
Your name
Your media (what materials you used)
Your reason for making this art piece, including why you made the choices you did
