Topic is for a informative speech. Informative speeches are neutral/unbiased speeches without any opinion. You cannot argue for a position. You are simply dispensing/reporting information. You should select a topic that is controversial. That means it should matter and be interesting. No topics such as how to change a tire or bake a cake. As we progress towards the development of our first major speech, a speech to inform, you need to determine what evidence you can apply to your speech. Evidence is required for this speech. You must have two academic and/or hard sources. You can have two online academic sources, (these are from college databases, such as Lexis Nexis, academic premier, jstor, Ebsco Host, etc.), or two hard sources (these are published texts, books, journals, etc. that you have physically in your possession), or you could have one of each. Yet, you need quality evidence to support your speech to inform.
